Basketball practice area

The proposed update includes a new modified, informal basketball area and play equipment:

  • Double bay swing with nest swing
  • Multiplay unit with rock climb and two slides
  • Balancing trail
  • Sandstone block wall for seating
  • Safety rubber surfacing
  • New seats in the playground area
  • New sign at the existing park entry

In addition, the existing bin and shelters will be retained (the table settings will be replaced), existing trees will be retained, and the existing paths will be retained.

Where is the playground located?

Caroline Chisholm Park playground is conveniently located near the tennis courts, shopping mall and local primary school in Winston Hills.

Previous community engagement

Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback in Stage One. You told us:

  • Climbing equipment, swings and slides, and imaginative play features were your 'top three' types of play equipment
  • Play equipment, shade trees and seating are your main priorities, with footpaths and a bubbler in fourth and fifth place

Some comments received about the existing park:

“I don’t like how the swing is on the other side of the seating. It means if one child wants the swing, we all have to move as it’s difficult to see over towards the other side when people are seated.”

“Basketball 1/2 court would be an improvement.”

Please note, we needed to be mindful of our limited budget. There are some things we cannot deliver in a playground of this size.
