Phillip Street in the CBD was closed from Thursday 17 to Monday 21 September while our crew of 30 worked round-the-clock on Civic Link Block 3.
Over the four-day closure, the construction site became a more recognisable part of the planned 21m-wide boulevard that will connect the CBD to Parramatta River.
The huge effort saw:
- 240m3 of material excavated
- 122 tonnes of asphalt laid
- 102 linear metres of kerb and guttering laid
- 71.3m3 of concrete formed and poured creating footpaths, ramps etc
- 10 properties were reconnected to a new watermain
- New stormwater pits and pipes were constructed.
The Civic Link Block 3 works resulted in the completion of the new raised pedestrian threshold and new roadway on Phillip Street ready for use on Monday 21 September. The pedestrian area links the future Civic Link with Powerhouse Parramatta, and will be ready for visitors in early-November when the museum opens.
Next steps include completion of footpath paving on the southern side of Phillip Street and landscaping throughout. Construction of the main Civic Link Block 3 works in Horwood Place will commence later this year.
