Community infrastructure refers to our shared facilities and spaces, such as parks, playgrounds, libraries, and community hubs.
Community infrastructure creates spaces for people to meet, connect and participate in activities. These spaces strengthen community connections and help meet the social and recreational needs of the community.
The Community Infrastructure Strategy 2020 (CIS) outlines Council’s long-term direction for community infrastructure provision.
It includes chapters addressing the future need for libraries, community space (including halls and community hubs), Guides and Scouts halls, subsidised spaces, child care centres, aquatics, indoor recreation, play spaces, sportsgrounds, parks and outdoor recreation.
The CIS is now five years old, so needs to be updated to ensure that our plans for community infrastructure are based on up to date information.
Survey findings will be used to inform the review of existing community infrastructure and prioritisation of recommendations for new and upgraded spaces.
Yes, once the updated draft CIS has been developed, it will be placed on public exhibition. Public exhibition is expected to take place in mid-late 2026.
