  • Construction for Stage 1 works to start from Tuesday 19 May 2026

    Community feedback showed strong support for the proposed works, with 70% fully supporting the proposal and a further 28% supporting it to some extent. Construction of Stage 1 Doyle Ground Sports Facility Improvements is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 19 May 2026 and expected to be completed in early-2027, with the sports field re-opened in mid-2027 following turf establishment. The circuit path, toilets, playground, and fitness equipment areas will remain open until further notice.

  • What did the community say during the consultation and what is Council's response?

    The community has largely expressed support for the Doyle Ground Sports Facility Improvements concept plan presented during the consultation period from 16 March to 1 April 2026. Many of the suggestions and requests are already included within the scope of Stage 1 upgrade works, or are planned to be delivered as part of the future Stage 2 upgrade works.   • Playground and fitness equipment area closed for excavation works on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 June 2026

    Over the past few weeks, Council has overseen construction works at Doyle Ground to deliver improved drainage and upgrades to sporting facilities.  Despite soil studies being conducted prior to the start of works, excavation in the work area revealed unexpected fibro fragments buried within the soil underneath the grassed surface of the park.  Excavation of the area, and the removal of contaminated soil, will take place on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 June 2026.

Who was Mr Doyle?

Who was Mr Doyle?

Cecil Howe Doyle (1870-1958) was a wool broker and attended The Kings School. As a visionary and generous supporter of many charities, he purchased a large portion of land within the current Doyle Ground for the future sporting needs of The Kings School.

The $9.5m Stage 1 upgrade works are proudly funded by the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program in association with City of Parramatta Council.
