Proposed Chicane on Evans Road Dundas Valley

Project overview

Evans Road, Dundas Valley is a local residential street used by both local residents and through traffic. Council has received concerns about vehicle speeds along this section of the road and the potential safety risks for pedestrians and other road users.

To help address these concerns, the City of Parramatta is proposing to install a traffic calming chicane and line marking on Evans Road (near Eric Mobbs Park), Dundas Valley. A chicane introduces a gentle horizontal shift in the road alignment, encouraging drivers to slow down and travel more carefully through the street.

The proposed installation is designed to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for residents, pedestrians and cyclists, while maintaining access for local traffic and emergency services. The proposed installation will not affect existing on street parking availability.

Next steps

Once the public exhibition period closes, submissions will be carefully reviewed to determine the next steps for the project. If there are no substantial objections to the proposal and it receives approval from Council and the Parramatta Traffic Forum, the community will be advised of the outcome in May 2026.
