The new community centre will feature:
• A large hall with a stage, dressing rooms, and modern AV equipment
• Flexible rooms with extra kitchen space
• A foyer and main lobby
• Improved accessibility with ramps and lift access
• Improved landscaping and a ‘kiss and drop’ bay
To make sure everyone can get around safely and easily, Council will adjust access to the area as needed during construction. There might be some temporary changes to parking and entry, but you’ll be kept updated every step of the way. Once the new community centre is open, you can look forward to improved traffic flow in and around the precinct.
Community feedback suggested that better local library services were important so that's why a brand new, modern community hub will be built in The Carling on Pennant Hills Road in Carlingford, which will be home to a new and expanded library. Library outreach services will be delivered at the Don Moore Community Centre.
Don Moore Community Centre will remain open until 21 December 2026 and we warmly welcome hirers during this time. Our aim is to make the Centre available to the community for as long as possible as we move closer to construction. The final confirmed closure date will be guided by the timing of the construction contract award.
The proposed solution improves safety by reducing the risk of incidents on North Rocks Road. By closing entry access to the site via North Rocks Road and using the driveway from Farnell Avenue, vehicles won't need to slow down as much on the busy main road. This helps prevent sudden stops and reduces the chance of accidents. Additionally, Council has worked with traffic consultants to ensure this solution is safe for the community.
It is important to note that this is the proposed solution at this stage. Council has worked with traffic consultants to develop this plan, and it will be formally reviewed as part of the Development Application (DA) process.
