In late-September, construction started on the public amenities building and landscape works at James Ruse Reserve.
Stage 2 works include: a permanent, accessible, public toilet with change-room facility; associated paths, ramps and stairs; landscaping; garden beds; and full site restoration including removal of the existing temporary toilet structure. It’s expected that work will be complete by early-February 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.
Arrangements during the construction phase
- The temporary toilet to remain open until the new permanent toilet and change-room facility complete
- James Ruse Reserve, playground, waterpark, skate park and pedestrian access between car park will remain open
- A section of the car park will be closed to allow for construction works, including a clearance zone (see site map below)
- Where fibro-affected soils are encountered during excavation, appropriate safety controls will be put in place, including air-quality monitoring, establishment of exclusion zones as needed, and the use of personal protective equipment.
