This section of Carlingford is located amongst three large schools and experiences high levels of pedestrian activity from both residents and the school community. In accordance with the conditions of consent for the redevelopment of Carlingford West Public School and Cumberland High School, School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is proposing to construct raised pedestrian crossings at these two locations to improve pedestrian safety.
For the detailed assessment on the proposal, please refer to the Environmental Impact Statement including the Transport Assessment on the NSW Planning Portal.

The installation of the two pedestrian crossings would result in the repurposing of one on-street parking space on Baker Street.
If there are no substantial objections to the proposal and it receives Council approval, the construction work for these crossings is expected to take place between March and April 2026.
