Proposed raised pedestrian crossings on Baker Street and Blenheim Road in Carlingford

Located among three large local schools, this part of Carlingford experiences high levels of pedestrian activity from both residents and the school community. In accordance with the conditions of consent for the redevelopment of Carlingford West Public School and Cumberland High School, School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is proposing to construct raised pedestrian crossings at the following locations to improve pedestrian safety:

  • Blenheim Road, Carlingford at Baker Street
  • Baker Street, Carlingford, south of Felton Road

Two pedestrian crossings approved for construction

Council consulted with the local community on the proposal to construct raised pedestrian crossings in Baker Street and Blenheim Road, Carlingford in early 2026. The purpose of the proposal is to improve pedestrian safety and access to and from both Carlingford West Public School and Cumberland High School. The majority of the community feedback showed support for the proposal with the main concerns being traffic congestion impacts on local streets.
