The Yarra Community Centre has officially opened in Lidcombe, providing the community with a brand new, purpose-built space for learning, connection and creativity. Located in the Carter Street precinct at Sydney Olympic Park, the $6.1 million multi‑purpose centre features flexible study and meeting spaces, free Wi‑Fi, self‑service printing and copying, and state‑of‑the‑art audio‑visual facilities. Yarra is also the first library in Australia to use an online ID verification system, allowing people to sign up for free City of Parramatta library membership and access services without needing to visit in person.

The opening was celebrated with free workshops and performances, alongside the unveiling of a specially commissioned artwork, Migration of Minds by Sydney artist Richard Briggs, created with input from the local community. Yarra Community Centre honours the area’s First Nations heritage through its name and will host a range of programs throughout the year, including after‑school, school holiday and creative activities. The centre is open seven days a week. This project was proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
