Duck River Nature Trail

Stage 3 - Final Concept Designs Endorsed

Following extensive community consultation, Council has endorsed the concept design for the three-stage 4.5 km trail, which will improve access to open space, strengthen connections between local neighbourhoods, and provide safer and more enjoyable active transport options. The updated design includes new amenities such as seating, water bubblers, bike parking, bike repair stations and environmentally-sensitive lighting along the entirety of the eastern foreshore.

The Duck River Nature Trail project has been designed to balance community needs, while enhancing the health of the river corridor, and minimising impacts on the natural environment. The final concept designs are now available to view or download in the Resources section.

Eastern River

The Eastern River section includes almost two kilometres of new trail between Canarvon Street and Blaxland Street, Silverwater, with connections at Derby Street, Giffard Street, River Street and Holker Street.

Western River

The Western River section includes a new connection from the existing pathway at the M4, extending across Duck Creek and along the western foreshore.

The timing of construction for the Western River section continues to be reviewed due to forecast costs and changes associated with Sydney Water's acquisition of land in Camellia. Design development and required approvals for this section will continue.

What happens next?

Following endorsement of the final concept designs, Council will continue detailed design development, environmental assessment and approval processes required to deliver the project. The community can now view the endorsed concept plans in the Resources section. Construction timing and project updates will continue to be shared as they become available.
