During engagement around upgrades proposed under the Eastern Parramatta River project (October 2024), many in the community asked Council to investigate ways that the Baludarri Wetland Boardwalk could be improved to reduce the noise and vibration created when cyclists used the share path.
A popular link between Alfred Street Bridge and the northern foreshore of the Parramatta River, the shared path provides access through wetlands - a challenging environment which requires the boardwalk to undergo regular maintenance.
Following a temporary closure in late-April, repairs and minor upgrades to the much-loved Baludarri Wetland Boardwalk are complete.
The work program was designed to improve safety and durability. Decking was repaired, lighting installed under handrails, and minor structural improvements were made to eliminate noise.
Further improvements are planned, subject to budget.
