We’re upgrading the foreshore path at Reid Park to make it wider and more enjoyable for everyone. When finished, walkers and cyclists will have separate paths, making it easier for everyone to move safely and comfortably through the area. During most of the construction, a temporary shared path will be in place. It will be narrower than usual, so please slow down, take extra care and be mindful of others.
Due to limited space, the foreshore park will need to completely close for construction from Monday 13 July to Friday 31 July, weather and site conditions permitting. A diversion is available via South Street. This route has uneven terrain and may have high traffic volumes so please consider avoiding or using alternative options during this time.

The partial closure of the foreshore path is estimated to be in place until November 2026.
Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the foreshore path upgrade. A friendly reminder: in NSW, only children aged 16 and under, and adults accompanying them, are permitted to ride bicycles on footpaths.
Pedestrian and cyclist access during works
Restricted access along the foreshore will remain available during most of the construction, but the path will be narrow in places. To avoid delays, cyclists can detour via riding on road along South Street, then rejoin the foreshore path at Clyde Street.
