Carlingford Parklands Landscape Design

  • Project Update - June 2026

Following two rounds of community consultation, the Carlingford Parklands project is now in detailed design with construction planned to start mid-2027 (subject to change).

Locals are aware that Thallon Street West Reserve and Thallon Street East Reserve are surrounded by high-density residential buildings.

The plan we shared in 2024 and 2025, sees the creation of a shared backyard that can be enjoyed by residents who often don’t have the space to host their families and neighbours in their apartments.

As part of the vision for a neighbourhood social space, there will be a new picnic shelter with outdoor BBQ; informal café-style tables and chairs; a large communal table for gatherings; community open space; and new landscaping.

The design for Thallon Street East Reserve, will see a playground catering to young children. The design will be themed around the area’s history of fruit orchards. The reserve will also feature a learn-to-ride track for bikes and scooters. The track will have line-markings, pedestrian crossings etc. There are also nature-themed play elements; bench seating; swings and slides; rubber soft-fall mounds; a water fountain, and garden beds with native trees and plants.

It’s going to be an exciting project. We’ll keep the community posted on progress.
